CHOICE(S)

“I wish I could go and see the world.”
– said someone who owns iPhone, own a house, wear branded products, and go to fancy Cafe everyday.

They have choices, but they didn’t take it.

“I wish I could have an iPhone, use high speed laptop, own a house, and able to grab a coffee from a coffee shop every day, that might help me to work productively”
– said someone who spend all money on flight tickets and traveling expenses, go anywhere without hesitation.

As a traveler, I learned to transform myself into someone with multiperspective thinking. So that I don’t have to feel intimidated by someone else’s choices.  Cuz I know I have some limits.
Some people you’ve seen might have it all. Still living in a comfortable life also traveling anywhere. It makes you feel like life is just unfair.

I’ve been there. Having those thoughts.
I feel iritated.
But then I just realized, for someone like me, every choice has its consequences.

Ini berlaku dengan asumsi resource kita terbatas.

I purchase iPhone seharga 15 juta, which I could use it to purchase a trip to Europe.
I purchase my first home, with that amount of money I could use it to go to 20 countries for 3 months.

This is a good question, because I don’t even know the exact answer.

You will learn which choice that gives you the most pleasure, in the long run. Not a temporary.

Keterbatasan membuat kita menentukan pilihan.

You gain some, you lose some.
I do really want to see the world, which led me to lose other things that I don’t have right now. In the past few years, I’ve learned to manage some life regrets from every past decisions I made. It’s not easy, to be frank. But it gave me so much lesson. When it comes to decision making. I always keep in mind about “gain some, lose some”. So, I try to consider about the fulfillment and regret that will happen on every decision. Which one that will likely give to a better fulfillment, which one that will make you regretful the most when you don’t take it.

If someone came up to me, and said that he or she want to be like me (travel often, visit lots of countries) with assumption that the condition is almost same as me (a person who has limitations), I will easily reply to him her “what do you really want in life?”
“REALLY” mustmbe emphasized.

If you’re confused with what you want, I’ll continue asking “let say you have a money, you want to travel but you think you can use the money to renovate the house, which one that you think it will result in a huge regret if you don’t take it NOW?”

If you know the answer, then you know what to do. 🙂

Just remember : if you gain some, you lose some.

This post is a self reflection for me as a traveler for the past few years, I soon found out during this pandemic that I take for granted on some travels I had, I felt sad after realizing this. But I know, this is kind of signal to transform myself. I am gonna use this opportunity to cherish the present and the unknown future, be grateful of everything I have now.
